The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Jagannath University (JU) has been accused of attacking the general students of the 2017-18 academic year against the junior staff of the BCL of the university. The injured were identified as Sajedul Islam Sukarno, Mahmudul Hasan and Habibullah Mezbullah Akash.
Allegations of BCL attack on ordinary students in JOB
The attacking BCL activists are said to be followers of Ashraful Islam Titon, the convener of the BCL’s conference preparation committee. For a long time, these junior activists of Chhatra League have been involved in extortion, snatching, drug use, trivial incidents, fights and other crimes around the campus.
The injured students filed a general diary at Kotwali police station on Thursday (December 30) seeking security in the incident.
In the diary, the students complained that Ayman Sajid made vulgar remarks about a female classmate in the messenger group of our batch. When we students of the batch protested, Sajid attacked us with his team. The attackers were Mir Mukit, a first year student of Economics Department, Munjir, a student of Psychology Department, Asif, a student of Land Management and Law Department, Sajib, a student of History Department, Sohan and Tamal of Economics Department and 5-6 others.
According to several students of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Sajid made vulgar remarks about a girl student and her husband in the messenger group of the 13th batch of the journalism department on Tuesday night (December 26). At that time, everyone in the batch asked Sajid to apologize in front of everyone after the examination on Wednesday (December 29). But at the end of the test, all the students in the quiet quarters, Sajid and Russell came with the first year junior staff of Chhatra League and attacked the students. They lodged a written complaint with the proctor’s office after the attack. After leaving the Proctor’s office, the junior BCL cadres led by Sajid attacked them again.
Asked about the GD, accused Ayman Sajid said, “We do not accept this allegation.” This allegation is baseless.
Regarding GD, Sadarghat police outpost sub-inspector (SI) Nahidul Islam said, “I have received all the documents of GD.” We are investigating the incident properly.
Meanwhile, Jagannath University Proctor. “We have received two complaints and a copy of the GD,” said Kamal. We will take action after watching the video and CCTV footage of the incident.
The body of the student named Mohammad Mehebullah Tousif (21) was recovered from a house of Mahanagar Project around 11:30 pm on Tuesday (December 21).
Hatirjheel police sub-inspector (SI) said. Nazrul Islam has confirmed the matter to the media.
He said, we got the news and went to that house of Mahanagar project. At that time, I recovered the body hanging from the fifth floor of the building with a ceiling fan.
