AQM Mozammel Haque said that Khaleda Zia is not a freedom fighter

Khaleda Zia is not a freedom fighter, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozzamel Haque. He made the remarks at a discussion at Farmgate in the capital on Monday (December 13) afternoon.

Besides, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif has said that Begum Zia is not getting medical treatment abroad due to BNP’s political stunt.

Recently, the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke on various occasions demanding BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia as the first woman freedom fighter.

Criticizing the statement while participating in a discussion titled ‘Flag procession’ on the golden jubilee of victory at Krishibid Institute at Farmgate in the capital, the Liberation War Affairs Minister said Begum Khaleda Zia cannot be a freedom fighter in any way. Because, he was in the cantonment voluntarily during the liberation war.

AQM Mozzamel Haque said, Mr. Fakhrul said that Begum Zia was a freedom fighter. We have said freedom fighters who are against the will, who are subjected to any oppression. We have given the title of Birangana to our proud mothers and sisters and we have called them freedom fighters. But as far as I know Begum Khaleda Zia was out. Ziaur Rahman has repeatedly sent people to come. She did not feel comfortable that she would cross the border and take part in the liberation war. He thought it was safe to stay in the cantonment. So if you are in the cantonment, something else can happen, you can’t become a Birangana or a freedom fighter.

Meanwhile, in response to the BNP’s demands and comments on the treatment of the ailing Begum Zia, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said that the party’s political stunt was the biggest obstacle to Begum Zia’s treatment.

Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said that he is getting as many facilities as the country needs. But he has the opportunity to take the maximum advantage of our country. If the problem in getting treatment outside the country is legal. So I think the main obstacle to this legal problem is the political stunt of the BNP.

Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif urged Begum Zia to go for legal treatment abroad.
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital on November 13 with various physical complications. There, Begum Zia was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver.

In this situation, the party and his family repeatedly appealed to the government for permission to go abroad for better treatment. The government is also discussing and reviewing various legal issues.

Meanwhile, the BNP and its affiliates have been protesting for some time demanding release of Begum Zia and her treatment abroad.

Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said that he is getting as many facilities as the country needs. But he has the opportunity to take the maximum advantage of our country. If the problem in getting treatment outside the country is legal. So I think the main obstacle to this legal problem is the BNP’s political stand.

Meanwhile, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the US statement on seven RAB officials would not affect Bangladesh’s national elections.
