BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned that the ruling party will face the same fate as the previous government if it does not accept the demand to send Khaleda Zia abroad.
He made the remarks at a rally organized under the banner of Women and Children’s Rights Forum in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Saturday (January 7) demanding medical treatment of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad.
On this occasion, the BNP has demanded the election under a non-party government with Khaleda Zia’s treatment abroad.The leaders also said those in power should step down, not speak out. Leaders say he is not receiving advanced treatment because of political retaliation, and that the government will not be able to find a way to escape him.

The BNP’s affiliated organization Women and Child Rights Forum organized a rally in front of the National Press Club to demand that. Apart from the BNP, leaders of 20 parties and the National Unity Front also joined the rally. He said that the demand has to be realized in a united and strict movement.
At the rally, Fakhrul said that the government would not allow Begum Zia to go abroad for treatment knowing that she would not be able to survive the rising tide of the people if she was released. He said that the government is not allowing Khaleda Zia to go abroad knowing that she will get angry with the people.
Remarking that the President’s dialogue was meaningless, the BNP secretary general demanded that the current government should resign and arrange for elections under a non-partisan government, but first of all Begum Zia should be sent abroad.
The BNP leader also called upon all to unite and fight on the streets in the movement for the fall of the government.

On the same occasion, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, the convener of Citizens’ Unity, said that Begum Zia should be sent abroad by fighting, not compromising. The time of the government is over, keep counting the days, the farewell bell is ringing for those in power.
If anything happens to Khaleda Zia, the ruling party will not find a way to escape, said senior BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy.
Another senior BNP leader Selima Rahman alleged that Begum Zia was not allowed to go abroad due to political revenge.
Khaleda Zia has been admitted to the hospital since November 13 last year.
