Any conspiracy in the election of Narayanganj City Corporation on January 18, the party candidate said. Awami League presidium member Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak has expressed hope that Selina Hayat will not be able to stop Ivy’s victory.
He said that the Awami League is moving forward unitedly with Ivy in front of this election and he will win the post of mayor again by a margin of more than one lakh votes. With this victory, he hoped that the Awami League would give a good start to the victory of the next national election.
He was speaking at a victory rally organized by the district and metropolitan Awami League on Friday (December 24) afternoon at Sheikh Russell Nagar Park in Deobhog area of the city on the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence and Victory Day of Mujibvarsha.
Regarding the rival independent candidates, Nanak said that the non-party candidate in the election is another new strategy of the BNP. Therefore, he instructed the local leaders to go to the houses of the voters and ask for boat votes without falling into the trap of any kind of tense situation.
Meanwhile, Awami League organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain said the BNP would make a night story after losing the election. Awami League does not make night. Ziaur Rahman captured the vote at night. And the Awami League under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina came to power through the people’s vote.
Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam said that whenever the Awami League holds an election, the anti-independence force BNP becomes the rival candidate. Those who killed Bangabandhu, wanted to kill Sheikh Hasina by grenade attack are now contesting the elections in Narayanganj. Therefore, Mirza Azam urged everyone to consider who to vote for.
Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim said, “We have united the Awami League under the direction of our leader Sheikh Hasina.” One month after the celebration of Victory Day on December 16, the people will hold another victory procession on January 16. The Election Commission has declared valid the nomination papers of 6 candidates including Ivy for the post of Mayor in Narayanganj City Corporation election. Any candidate can withdraw his nomination till December 28.
