Restrictions are being imposed in West Bengal to control corona

Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated in West Bengal, India. The state authorities may impose restrictions there to bring the situation under control.

The country’s Bengali daily Anandabazarpatrika online news has given such a hint. On Sunday (January 2), health department officials sat in a meeting at the West Bengal Chief Minister’s Office Navanne. Possible restrictions have been discussed there.

The new guidelines are expected to be issued from Monday. However, the final word has not been announced yet. An announcement is expected on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had hinted that some restrictions might be re-introduced from Monday due to corona infection. This may include holidays for a few days in schools, colleges and various educational institutions.

Hotels, theaters, restaurants and clubs will also be closed. Some restrictions may also be imposed on public transport.

Mamata Banerjee even discussed the issue with state chief secretary Harikrishna Dwivedi on Saturday. In that context, the meeting on Sunday is considered important.

Sources say the state is not considering a partial lockdown or stricter restrictions right now. Train, bus or metro services may not be closed right now. For the time being, step by step restrictions will be issued and it may be further enhanced in the future.

Upward corona infection in India again. The number of daily attacks in the country’s West Bengal state has increased 10 times in the last six days. And in Kolkata alone the number of daily attacks has exceeded two thousand.

This week last Monday (December 26) there were 439 daily infections in the state. On Saturday (January 1) it crossed the 4,000 mark. Infections are increasing at an unusual rate in the metropolitan areas of Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas. The daily infection rate in the state alone has crossed 12 percent. Death has also increased with that.

Last Wednesday (December 29), the daily infection rate in the state exceeded one thousand. Thursday (December 30) exceeded two thousand and Friday (December 31) exceeded three thousand.

According to a bulletin released by the state health department on Saturday (January 1), 4,512 people have been newly infected in the state in the last 24 hours. In Kolkata, where there were around 500 daily infections last Wednesday (December 26), it rose to 2,397 on Saturday.

North 24 Parganas are second only to Kolkata in the district-wise list in terms of the number of daily attacks. The number of new victims in the district reached 500 on Friday. On Saturday it increased to 6 people.

In Howrah, the number of daily attacks has increased to 344 in the last 24 hours. The new outbreak in Hooghly on Friday surpassed 100 people. On Saturday, it rose to 175 people. The new outbreak in South 24 Parganas on Wednesday surpassed 100 people. On Saturday, it increased to 196 people.

Infection is also increasing at an unusual rate in West Burdwan. There were 136 daily attacks in the district on Friday. On Saturday, it increased to 241 people. Daily transmission has also increased in Nadia, Birbhum and Bankura. The daily transmission in Malda in North Bengal was slightly lower on Saturday as compared to Friday but increased in Kochbihar, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and South Dinajpur.

Nine people have died in Corona in West Bengal in the last 24 hours. Of these, two corona patients died in Kolkata and North 24 Parganas. So far 19,063 people have died in Corona in the state. 1,913 people recovered on Saturday.

The number of patients undergoing treatment in the state has started increasing with the increase in the number of patients daily. In the last 24 hours, the number of patients undergoing treatment has increased from 10 thousand and a half to 13,300. The number of patients undergoing treatment in Kolkata last Monday was around two and a half thousand. On Friday it increased to about five thousand. On Saturday, the number rose to 6,442. Besides, the number of patients undergoing treatment has increased in West Burdwan, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas.

According to a bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday morning, 6 lakh 2 thousand 605 people have been vaccinated in the last 24 hours in the state. So far, a total of 10 crore 46 lakh 95 thousand 975 people have been vaccinated in the state.
