Despite the chaotic atmosphere in some places, the turnout was noticeable across the country. Voting took place in a festive atmosphere in Madaripur. Law enforcement is keeping a close watch to prevent election violence.

The clash took place on Sunday night (December 26) between the supporters of two candidates of Ward 8 of the Charmontaj Union Parishad election in the upazila. However, it was not immediately possible to know the name of the injured person.

Voting in seven unions of Rangabali and Kalapara upazilas of Patuakhali lasted from 8 am to 4 pm. The counting started after the voting.

Voter turnout can be seen in the centers from morning. However, the presence of women voters has been noticed more. Ansar and police personnel were deployed at each center to prevent untoward incidents and members of other law enforcement agencies including RAB, BGB were deployed at risky centers.

Elections are being held through ballot in 5 unions and electronic voting machine (EVM) in 2 unions in Patuakhali.
