The Lankan cricketer who played in the World Cup was released on bail

Former Lankan cricketer Sachitra Senanayake had to go to jail a few days ago due to his involvement in match fixing. However, this cricketer, who played the World Cup for Sri Lanka, was released on conditional bail. The Lankan Police Media Department confirmed the matter.

Lankan cricketer Sachitra Senanayake was arrested on September 6 due to his involvement in match fixing. After spending 19 days in jail, he was granted bail in exchange of two sureties of 5 million Sri Lankan rupees. Even if he gets bail, there is a travel ban on the commander.

In LPL 2020, there were allegations of match-fixing against Lankan cricketer Sachitra Senanayek. It is known that the two cricketers were lured by this Lankan cricketer to fix the match over the phone. On August 14, the Colombo Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court ordered a three-month travel ban on Senanayake for a detailed investigation into the incident.

But before three months passed, Senanayake was arrested by the investigation unit. Senanayake himself surrendered on Wednesday. He is then shown arrested.

Sachitra Senanayake has played one Test, 49 ODIs and 24 T20Is for Sri Lanka. Senanayek made his debut in international cricket in 2012. He played the last match in the Lankan jersey in 2016.
