In Kushtia’s Kumarkhali, four policemen were stopped at their house while trying to recover drugs. Police later dropped his black government stick and broke down three partition doors in self-defense. The incident took place at 12 noon on Thursday at the house of Abdus Sattar of Bagbaria village in Panti Union. Sakhawet Hossain, in-charge of Panti police camp, was injured.
Later in the afternoon, Kumarkhali police raided the house again. The operation recovered a Chinese ax, three toy pistols and a knife. At that time, the police arrested Sattar, the owner of the house.
However, Sattar’s family members claim that the police occasionally come and harass them. In the name of the expedition, the cash in the house was taken away. He picked up the members and sent them to the drug case. At around 10 am on Thursday, four policemen entered the house, forcibly searched it and got into a scuffle with a member named Baishakhi. Meanwhile, other members of the family kept the police in the house. Later, the police broke down three doors and fled with Rs 48,500 in cash and a gold chain around Baishakhi’s neck.
According to the police, the house of Abdus Sattar is known as the identified drug dealer. His four children Abdur Razzak, Shariful, Saiful and Ashraful have various cases including drug, robbery and theft. Police raided Sattar’s house around 10 am on Thursday on the basis of secret information that he had drugs. The family members obstructed the expedition and kept them in their house. Later, when the police broke down the door and fled, they hit the in-charge of the Panti camp with a domestic weapon and injured him.
Police also said that another raid was carried out on Sattar’s house at noon. A Chinese ax, three toy pistols and a knife were recovered from his house. The homeowner was also detained.
Baishakhi Khatun, wife of Sattar’s youngest son Ashraful, said, “I am giving food to my husband and children in the morning.” Suddenly the police came into the house and started searching for drugs. He got into a scuffle with the police. And the people of the house locked the door. Later, the police broke down the door and fled with a gold chain around my neck and Rs 48,500 in my house.
Abdus Sattar, the owner of the house, said that sometimes the police come and harass him. The money was taken in the name of search. Even today it came. I was detained. But he left the black stick and broke down the door and fled. However, no one was hurt.
Admitting the truth of the incident, Inspector (Investigation) of the police station Akibul Islam said that Sattar’s house was known as an identified drug dealer. Police conducted the operation on the basis of secret information in the morning. During this time, family members obstructed the work of the police and beat and injured the police.
He further said that a re-operation was carried out at noon and domestic weapons were recovered and the owner of the house was arrested. A case is pending in Kumarkhali police station in this regard.
