Who will get Johnson’s vaccine, said Health Minister Zahid Malek

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had promised to vaccinate all the people of the country. We are working towards that goal. Already 96 million people have been vaccinated with the 1st dose and 75 million people have been vaccinated with the 2nd dose. We also vaccinated in the slums. We vaccinated school-college students at school. But even then, to meet our targets, about two and a half crore people who travel, work in shops, mills, launches and steamers are not being vaccinated. That’s why we’ve decided that from now on, traveling people will be vaccinated against Johnson. This is because Johnson’s vaccine can be given with only one dose, the second dose is not required.

This was stated by the Health Minister at a press briefing at BCPS (Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons) premises in Mohakhali on Sunday (January 30) morning regarding the current overall situation of Kovid-19 and issues related to vaccination activities.

He added that the booster dose was offered to all citizens above the age of 50. But there is no such response in taking booster dose. Therefore, from now on, everyone above 40 years will be able to take booster dose. At the same time all school going children or all other children above 12 years will also be vaccinated.

The government has so far been able to give 175 million doses of vaccine to the people of the country and at present the government has about 90 million more doses of vaccine. For this reason, even if everyone above 12 years of age is vaccinated, the vaccine will not end, said the health minister.

The health minister also mentioned that a person infected with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis should be kept in isolation for 10 days instead of 14 days.

He said the rate of infection in Corona at the moment is millions worldwide. Infections and deaths have increased in neighboring countries. But we are not wearing masks, we are moving around without following the hygiene rules. Schools and colleges have been closed. But going for a walk with the children. That’s not right. People need to come forward in health awareness.

Health Minister briefing Lokman Hossain Mia, senior secretary of the Department of Health, Director General of the Department of Health, Prof. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam was present.
