Our cricket officials have verbally claimed the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as the second top franchise based tournament in the world. However, looking at the franchise’s franchise, the list of foreign players, or the quality of the tournament, the franchise can be compared to a larger domestic tournament.
The eighth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is coming up on January 21. Before that there was no less controversy about the number of teams or the presence of icon players. For this reason, one thing about the biggest cricket tournament in the country is very popular in the media, there is nothing to say in BPL.
Our policy makers have proved once again that there is no such thing as ‘Bangladesh Problem League’. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the names of six franchises on December 22.
But before the players draft, there was a complication with the ownership of Dhaka. Marn and Rupa Group lost ownership of the franchise due to failure to deposit guaranteed money on time. After that Dhaka took part in the draft under the supervision of BCB.
Although cricket policymakers have been told that the ownership of Dhaka will not be in the hands of the BCB even if the team is arranged. However, four days after the draft, there is still no sign of a change of ownership. So far, the Dhaka franchise is in the hands of the BCB. However, the board has repeatedly said that the team will not be in the hands of the BCB in the end.
BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan also told the media on Thursday (December 30), “Whatever the reason, ownership of Dhaka has not been found yet. However, I am making it clear that the team does not belong to BCB. Hopefully the ownership will be handed over soon if we get a sponsor. ‘
Meanwhile, one side has already started talking about Dhaka, mainly BCB. And so, twenty days before the start of the tournament, people have started asking questions about such a messy situation, Dhaka, who are you?
On the other hand, Dhaka has made a splash in the players’ draft ahead of this year’s event. They have fielded three Pandavas of Panchpandab. Mashrafe bin Mortuza, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad have been included in the Dhaka squad. They will play together for the first time in Bangladesh’s domestic cricket and franchise cricket. In the chemistry of these three, Dhaka can do a unique feat this time. All three are in the best category in the three categories.
Rubel Hossain, Shamsur Rahman, Mohammad Shehzad, Najibullah Zadran and Isuru Udanara are also in this team. Meanwhile, acting fielding coach of Bangladesh Mizanur Rahman Babul will be the head coach of Dhaka. Khulna won the title of Bangabandhu T20 tournament with his hand.
The other two in Panchpandab are Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. Among them Shakib Al Hasan will play for Barisal and Mushfiqur Rahim will play for Khulna.
