Jammu and Kashmir heated again. Three gunmen were killed in clashes with security forces in Kulgam and Anantnag. One policeman was also injured. Security forces have stepped up operations against rebels in hot Kashmir. Meanwhile, various political parties have expressed their displeasure over the housing conference organized by the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Local security forces on Wednesday (December 29) launched an anti-Santa operation in the Naogam area of Anantnag.
The Indian Army claimed that the operation was carried out on the basis of information that the terrorists were hiding in a secret dormitory. One policeman was injured in the shootout. He was rushed to a local hospital.
Security forces launched a search operation in Mirhama village of Kulgam district in the evening on the basis of secret information immediately after the operation in Naogaon. Police claim that at one stage of the operation, the terrorists started firing at the members of the security forces. Police fired back. Several gunmen were killed.
Police also said that the operation against the terrorists is still going on. Kashmir’s security forces have warned of intensifying counter-insurgency operations in the country due to the recent rise in terrorist activities.
Inaugurating a number of state-of-the-art vehicles in the fight against terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir Police DGP Dilbag Singh said the inclusion of these vehicles in the police force would further enhance the strength of the police. He also warned that anti-militant operations would be intensified to maintain peace in Kashmir.
The fully air-conditioned vehicles are equipped with 14 CCTV cameras, 360 degree view cameras, public address system, flashlights, state-of-the-art medical kits and state-of-the-art security measures.
Meanwhile, various political parties have expressed outrage over the housing conference in Jammu and Kashmir. The parties in the valley have united against the housing conference organized by the central government. Even the Hurriyat Conference has opposed the Housing Conference. At the same time, the Hurriyat Conference has demanded international intervention to take action in this regard.
The attack took place on Monday (December 13) evening at the Jivar camp on the outskirts of the city.
Among the dead were an assistant police sub-inspector and a constable. The injured have been admitted to hospital for treatment. The condition of several of them is critical.
According to NDTV, the terrorists opened fire on the bus in a very safe area. There are various security forces camps there. Meanwhile, two rebels were killed in a gunfight with security forces in the city. Police in the country say the shootings took place in the Radangareth area.

In a tweet, Kashmir police said two unidentified insurgents had been killed. An investigation is underway. A few days ago, two police officers were killed when terrorists opened fire on a group of police in Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
