Sinha murder case: Relatives of the accused in the court at midnight

The verdict in the murder case of retired Army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in Cox’s Bazar will be announced on Monday (January 31). Relatives of the accused have already appeared in the court premises around the verdict

It is learned that the relatives of the accused have started coming to the court since morning. At this time they were seen to be dependent on various issues.

Shipra, a student of Film and Media Department, went to Himchhari in Cox’s Bazar with retired Major Sinha to make a travel documentary titled ‘Just Go’. The other two members of this team were Shahedul Islam Sifat and Tahsin Rifat Noor.

Retired Army Major Sinha was shot dead by police at the Shamlapur checkpost in Baharchhara union of Teknaf on July 31, 2020, after working for about a month.

The Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions Judge’s Court will announce the verdict on Monday against the 15 accused in the murder case filed by Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous.
The police filed three cases (two in Teknaf and one in Ramu).

On August 5, five days after the incident, Sinha’s elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a murder case against Teknaf Police OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Baharchhara Investigation Center Inspector Liaquat Ali and nine other policemen in a Cox’s Bazar court. RAB is responsible for the investigation of these four cases.

Later, on December 13, 2020, the investigating officer and RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Md. Khairul Islam. The indictment referred to Sinha’s murder as a “planned incident”. 63 people were witnessed in this.
Charges were framed against the accused on June 26. Then the testimony started from last 23rd August. Which ends on December 1. Later, on December 6 and 7, the accused were given statements under section 342.

The verdict in the murder case of retired Army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan will be announced on Monday (January 31) after a long hearing, testimony of witnesses, cross-examination and arguments of lawyers.
